Why join Tau Kappa Epsilon? Many men have pondered this question and have realized the impact that the decision to join a social fraternity in college can have on a man’s life.
It could be TKE’s dedication to brotherhood in our “fraternity for life”. With over 270,000 men initiated into the bond of Tau Kappa Epsilon and over 250 chapters worldwide, our fraternity strives to foster and grow brotherhood within our chapters individually and as a whole.
It could be our dedication to developing leadership ability, with Tekes taking on positions of great responsibility and prestige in the fields of government, medicine, science, business and the arts. The Lambda Chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is a truly exceptional group of men. Members, past and present, have continuously shown the great impact that our fraternity can have on the lives of others in our hometowns and communities and across the world. The Lambda chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity strives to create lifelong relationships that enhance educational, interpersonal, community and professional success. This is a fraternity of men who are constantly driven toward high achievement. Men who strive to improve their communities through a dedication to service and charity. Men who strive to better themselves and their brothers through a commitment to the ideals of our fraternity. Men who work, within our fraternity and our university, to better society through the personal growth of our members, and our service to others.
The Lambda Chapter offers many great opportunities for leadership development and personal growth. Tau Kappa Epsilon international offers a Regional Leadership Conference, Conclave and the Charles R. Walgreen Jr. Leadership academy, among others. The TKE Lambda Alumni Association will sponsor our Brothers to attend these meetings. The Lambda chapter also provides the "Lambda scholarship" for a member of the chapter that demonstrates upstanding character and achievement within our chapter.
The Lambda Chapter also has great relations with the Interfraternity Council and their Justice Board, with Brothers being selected to positions each year. This year we are proud to have our very own Bennett Wallander serving as Interfraternity Council President, as well as having various members on the Greek Week committee and the Justice Board.
New members in Lambda Chapter will learn about themselves and grow as men once joining our fraternity. One thing that makes Lambda chapter stand out is our dedication to a wholesome and enriching new member process, that focuses on developing the leadership traits and abilities within each member. We are a fraternity that does not tolerate hazing.
