Philanthropy

Teke Week: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is the national philanthropy of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Founded by Danny Thomas, a Teke, St. Jude is a pioneer and leader in research and treatments for children's diseases, whether it be cancer or another life-threatening disease. Here at Madison, we dedicate a week each year to raising money for St. Jude. Past Teke Weeks have included various restaurant fundraisers and even putting on a concert with Waka Flocka Flame. In 2015, we raised nearly $20,000 for St. Jude and have our sights set on much more in the future.

Paws for a Cause: Every year in the fall, TKE rounds up about a dozen infant puppies from a local breeder and throws a fundraiser in the front yard, where you pay to play with the puppies. It has been a wild success on campus, and in 2016 we raised over $2,000 for St. Jude.

Humorology: Humorology is a philanthropy event put on by the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council here at UW-Madison, supporting United Cerebral Palsy and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County. Fraternities and Sororities pair up and put on original musical productions, ending with a live performance in the spring. Last year, over $125,000 was raised! For the 2016-2017 scholastic year, we are paired with the lovely ladies of Alpha Xi Delta as well as the men of Alpha Sigma Phi.

Greek Week: In the spring, Fraternities and Sororities pair up once again and engage in a variety of activities and competitions to unite the Greek community here at Madison and promote Greek life. The week includes a blood drive, sporting events between teams, speakers and various fundraisers. We are also proud to say that as a part of team 6 in 2016, we are reigning Greek Week champions!

Trick or Treat with the Greeks: Another philanthropy organized by the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association here at Madison, Trick or Treat with the Greeks has children from the Dane County Boys and Girls Club come through Langdon street and stop at houses for candy and activities with Fraternity and Sorority members the week before Halloween.

The Lambda Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon at University of Wisconsin-Madison was installed as a chapter on December 15, 1917.

Since 1899, Tau Kappa Epsilon has never had an exclusionary clause for membership. TKE does not judge men on their wealth, rank or honor, but instead on their personal worth and character.

Our mission is to "to aid men in their mental, moral, and social development for life." In essence, we build Better Men for a Better World.
